DD(Dad’s Diary) 11

After 9 Months  On The Island Of Bahrain In The Middle-East , I Went Back “Home” To HC-2 In Virginia , I Went To Various Schools To Keep Up My Qualifications. The “Home-Guard” Squadron Had Several UH-3 Sea-King Helicopters , Most Were Retired From Their Days As Submarine Hunters , They Were Gutted Out To Make The Cabin’s Empty For  Assorted Uses.  The Other 4 Of The Helicopters Were VH-3’s , Retired From Their Presidential-Duty , And Thanks To Tricky-Dick’s Famous Sad-Goodbye, Some Were More Famous! ! 1 Of Them Was Reinforced To Carry Caroline Kennedy’s Pony. Each Of The VH-3’s Were Kept Spotless , Between Flight’s The Interior Was Protected With Paper-Mat’s , To Keep The Grime From Our Work Boots Off The Plush-Carpet. To Work Inside Them , It Was Also  Ordered That We Remove Our Boots When We Went Inside Them. Most Electrical Components Were Covered With Decorative Panelling  . So We Had To Use Schematic’s To Know Where They Were Mounted To Troubleshoot  Them. All The Other H-3’s Were Barren And Most Of The Electrical Components In The Interior Were Plain To See Where They’re Mounted, So That Made My Job Easier! And The UH-3’s And The VH-3’s Had Some Of The Same Gear To Maintain , But The VH-3’s Had Air-conditioner’s And APU’s(Auxillary Power Unit’s).
